Karen Rhea, M.D., joins Internal Medicine Associates


Karen Rhea, M.D., has joined Summit Medical Group as a primary care physician with Internal Medicine Associates. She currently is accepting new patients.

Dr. Rhea specializes in the diagnosis, management and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both geriatric medicine and internal medicine and is a member of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS).

Before joining Internal Medicine Associates, Dr. Rhea was an assistant professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a research technician at the Atlanta Research and Education Foundation, working on-site at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the influenza division.

Dr. Rhea completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Furman University in 2007 and earned a Doctor of Medicine from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014.

Originally from Halls, she now lives in Powell with her husband. She enjoys hiking and reading.
