STATCARE HOSPITALIST GROUP is a group of physicians within Summit Medical Group comprised of Board Certified Internal Medicine physicians dedicated to caring for you during your hospital stay.
STATCARE physicians will provide your care while you are in the hospital. These doctors – often called hospitalists – are familiar with your case and are available to care for you 24 hours a day. Hospitalists may also consult with other physicians/specialists about your medical needs.
STATCARE physicians are specially trained to meet the unique needs of hospitalized patients. STATCARE strives to provide communication to your primary care physician about your hospital stay.
Following are some questions patients often ask about their stay in the hospital and STATCARE physicians:
Who will be my doctor while I'm in the hospital?
Can I see the same physician that I saw in the hospital again?
What if I need another specialist while in the hospital?
Consultations from specialty physicians are often necessary. The STATCARE physician coordinates your treatment and will work with other specialty care physicians as needed. Depending on your medical condition, the STATCARE physician may call in a specialist, such as a pulmonologist, surgeon or cardiologist. Later, as your condition improves, the specialist and STATCARE physician will work together to determine who may be best to continue oversight of your care.
What role does the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant play in my care?
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works closely with your physician to care for you and discuss your health status. When medically appropriate, you will see a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant during your hospital stay. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works with your physician to remain involved in your care. The physician is available to communicate any changes in your care.

After discharge the hospital will send your primary care physician a summary of your course of treatment, including test results and all medications, so your primary care physician can provide follow-up care.
